If someone you know has recently welcomed a little one into the world, you may be planning to buy them a gift for when you visit them. But sometimes knowing what to give them is half the challenge. This is especially true if you’re not a parent yourself, or if your own kids are starting to get a bit older.

You can never go wrong with fresh food

A bag for mum
For many new mothers, finding a useful, yet fashionable, bag that you can use to carry the little one’s things in may not be a typical priority. Babies need a lot of things, especially if you are heading out for the day. From nappies to bottles, wipes to spare clothes, it can be tricky to store everything while also looking chic.
By having a fashionable bag on hand (and with plenty of compartments equipped), you can keep your personal identity while also achieving practicality. It also means she won’t have to take out more than one bag when she leaves the house.
Muslin squares
Muslin squares are incredibly useful for new mums as they can be used as bibs, burp cloths, comforters and during breastfeeding. These little pieces of fabric can also be used for almost anything else – such as cleaning, wiping and tidying up. This makes them a super versatile addition to any bag. Parents can also hang onto these handy designs to use throughout their little one’s childhood for any of those unexpected accidents (or even as a light-weight blanket).
A magazine subscription
It’s no secret that new mums are going to spend a lot of time at home with their new baby, so they are probably going to spend a lot of time watching TV. Although most of us have a Netflix subscription, why not check what other resources are available for mums who may need a little extra help or guidance.
If there are movies and shows she wants to watch, you could check out a Stan or Amazon subscription. If she’s more of a music or podcast listener, you could opt for Spotify, iTunes or even buy her a good-old book. Sometimes these simple gifts are far more appreciated than anything else and give a sense of ‘me-time’ to busy mums.
